Vilaflor

Vilaflor is Tenerife’s highest village and one of the island’s best mountain stops. It sits on the southern approach to Teide, where pine forest, village streets and open views create a very different atmosphere from the coast below.
This is a place for breathing room more than action. The altitude, cooler air and slower pace make Vilaflor a useful reset point on a Tenerife trip, especially if you have been staying in the busier south.
Why go
Vilaflor works well as a lunch stop, rural overnight base or waypoint on the way into Teide National Park. It also connects naturally with the island’s elevated wine country and with walking routes in the southern uplands.
Practical notes
Come here for atmosphere and location rather than a long checklist of sights. Vilaflor is best appreciated slowly: a stroll, a meal, a mountain view and then the road onwards.
