Punta de Teno
Tenerife | GPS: 28.342085, -16.9229456Punta de Teno feels like the edge of Tenerife. At the far northwestern tip of the island, the road ends at a lighthouse, black volcanic shore and huge Atlantic views, with La Gomera often visible across the water and the Los Gigantes cliffs visible in the other direction.
This is one of the best places in Tenerife for open seascapes rather than town or beach atmosphere. People come here for the sense of exposure, for photographs, for a swim in calmer conditions and for the satisfaction of reaching a place that still feels remote.
Why go
Punta de Teno is about scenery, not infrastructure. It is ideal if you want a half-day nature stop, a picnic spot, an easy swim in a striking setting or one of the island’s best sunset-style viewpoints.
Access matters
Because the road is narrow and the area is sensitive, access is often managed rather than fully open in the way visitors expect. Check current transport arrangements before you go. In practice, planning ahead is part of visiting Punta de Teno well.
Practical notes
Bring what you need, allow time to linger and pair it with Buenavista del Norte or the wider Teno area. Punta de Teno is at its best when treated as a scenic endpoint rather than a box to tick quickly.
