Icod Dragon Tree
Tenerife | GPS: 28.3666592, -16.7224386The Icod Dragon Tree is one of Tenerife’s most recognizable plant landmarks and an easy stop on a north-coast route. The famous drago in Icod de los Vinos is less about wilderness than about symbolism and setting: a long-lived tree shape, a formal garden context and Teide often looming in the background.
It is popular for a reason. Even travelers who do not usually chase botanical sights tend to find it memorable because the silhouette is so distinctive and so strongly tied to Canary Islands imagery.
Why go
This is a straightforward visit if you are already in Icod, Garachico or the northwest. It works well with the town square, the wider old-town area and a more relaxed north-coast drive.
Practical notes
Do not overbuild the stop in your schedule. The tree is a short, worthwhile visit rather than an all-morning attraction, and it is at its best when folded into a broader Icod day.
