Charco del Viento
Tenerife | GPS: 28.400959, -16.6738598Charco del Viento is a rugged natural-pool stop on Tenerife’s north coast, shaped by lava and open Atlantic force rather than by resort design. It feels rougher and more local than the island’s easy-access beaches, which is exactly the point.
The appeal here is the shoreline itself: dark rock, surge channels and the sense that the coast is still being argued over by sea and stone. On calm days it can be a rewarding dip stop; on rougher days it is more of a viewpoint.
Why go
Come for raw north-coast character and a break from the more polished beach scene. It pairs well with Icod de los Vinos, Garachico and other northwest stops.
Practical notes
Conditions matter a lot here. If the sea is rough, treat the place with caution and enjoy it as scenery rather than as a swim spot.
