Mount Guajara
Tenerife | GPS: 28.216944, -16.611667Mount Guajara is one of the most rewarding serious hikes in Teide National Park. Rather than aiming for the island’s highest point, this route climbs to the edge of the old caldera rim, where the views back across Teide and the wider volcanic basin are the real prize.
It appeals to walkers who want a mountain day with strong visual payoff but without the symbolic pressure of the main summit. The terrain is still demanding, just in a different way.
Why go
Choose Guajara if you want a proper hike in the park with a little more space and a strong sense of scale. Few routes explain the shape of the Teide landscape more clearly from above.
Practical notes
This is not a casual stroll from a viewpoint. Treat it as a planned mountain walk with the usual attention to weather, sun exposure and enough water.
