Punta del Hidalgo, Tenerife, Canary Islands

Punta del Hidalgo sits where Anaga’s mountainous world loosens into the Atlantic. It is a breezy, exposed north-coast stop known for natural swimming areas, ocean views and a mood that feels much less resort-driven than much of Tenerife’s shoreline.

It works especially well after time in La Laguna or the Anaga mountains, when the coast provides a natural change of pace without breaking the same broader regional character.

Why go

Come here for sea pools, rough-edged Atlantic scenery and a taste of everyday north-coast life. Punta del Hidalgo is more about open water, promenades and post-hike swims than about sandy beach lounging.

How it fits a trip

The town is a good endpoint for walks descending from Anaga and a sensible side trip from La Laguna. It is also a nice contrast to the island’s more sheltered or more overtly touristy coastline.

Practical notes

Punta del Hidalgo is best for travelers who do not need resort polish. If you like natural pools, wind, surf views and a coastal town that still feels local, it is one of the better short stops in northeast Tenerife.
